[alright. 'coz yeh, I might need a little guidance because (a) I'm not terribly familiar with FF, and (b) usually the one who starts the RPG is the one 'in charge' and I don't like doing dumb things that could screw things up =P]
"the first thing we do is obvious," Mira said, not turning around, "we inspect the chamber."

Sephiroth nodded. So far so good, he thought. Although the girl was right that part was obvious.
He followed her into the heart of the Mako Reactor, and as the doors slid apart to reveal the Reactor Core chamber, he caught sight of something that made his heart skip a beat. A black feather lay on the floor in front of the door. That could only mean one thing, and it wasn't good. That meant that there was a monster on the loose and that monster used to be a member of SOLDIER.
Sephiroth didn't say anything about it, though. This was part of the girl's test. He would not skew the results in any way. He just stood inside the doorway and awaited an order.

Mira noticed the feather, and she picked it up, once again, without a word. She stood there in front of him, seemingly not moving, though her eyes were scanning the place. She was completely silent, as if she was listening for something. in a few seconds she would 'give the order' to inspect the chamber.

Sephiroth waited as the girl picked up the feather and inspected it. He doubted that she knew just what it signified, but time would tell. Without waiting for an order, he moved off to the side, as any responsible SOLDIER would do, to begin the inspection.

[oi... sorry that I didn't catch this earlier. my computer said I was the last one to post... must be a glitch. ANYWAYS...]
after a brief moment of silence, she gave the order to look around. she did it bluntly of course, and in as few words as possible. She too began peering around for anything out of the ordinary.

[[Es okay. Just give your compy a swift kick in the arse for me.]]
Sephiroth found something of note. He held up the severed end of a wire for closer inspection. He held it up towards his partner. "Mira, what do you make of this?" he asked, pulling the slack out of the wire so that he could pull it out of the otherwise undamaged circuit box.

[done ^^]
Mira glanced at it curiously, and then at the undamaged circuit box. "I'd reckon sabotage of some sort," she remarked, if I were forced to make a guess on a whim."

Sephiroth nodded his agreement. "Sabotage indeed. And from the looks of it, someone knew what they were doing." He tucked the wire back into the box and then stepped to the nearest discharge vent. He took a careful sniff. Everything smelled normal at any rate.
The lights flicked off.
"Mira, don't move," he said. This could be bad. Either the reactor was just disconnected from the grid, in which case it would overload in a matter of minutes, or someone else was in the core with them.
Sephiroth's cat-like pupils had already dilated to their fullest and so he was able to see dimly in the green glow of the Mako Reactor. He didn't see anyone, but that meant nothing.
"Well, Sir Mira, what would you suggest we do now?" he asked. He had already committed to letting the girl lead the mission, he wasn't going to back out of that now.

"we pull a Mira," Mira replied bluntly, "and stay quiet for the time being unless we absolutely have to do otherwise."
one of Mira's highlights about herself was that she had very keen eyes and ears. she remained motionless, her eyes adjusting to the lack of light, and her ears perked, listening for any sign of movement.

Due to not only the fact that he was a SOLDIER, but also to his rather questionable origins, Sephiroth's senses were also preternaturally acute. So he was able to sense and pin-point the subtle change in the light of the Mako reactor before any danger presented itself.
He leaped across the five feet that separated himself and Mira and activated one of the Materia that he had. He held out his left hand and a circular barrier of shimmering blue energy appeared before him, scattering the fireball that came streaking out of the darkness. He had positioned himself so that Mira was behind the shield as well.
He reached over his shoulder and drew his five and a-half foot long Masamune blade and lowered the barrier. "Well well, aren't we the sneaky one?" he spoke to the shape materializing in front of him in the darkness. The figure also pulled a sword, but his was straight bladed and gave off a ruddy glow. Not enough light came from the blade to illuminate the man's features, only cast them in stark shadows.
"SOLDIER 2nd Class Mira, remove this man from the premises. Use of deadly force is authorized and encouraged," Sephiroth said, keeping his sword drawn, but stepping off to the side slightly. He wanted to see how she handled herself in a very difficult fight. If she needed help, he would step in, but otherwise, this was all up to her.

Mira was known for being "fearless". some called it just plain indifference, as Mira always seemed indifferent about everything she did. Regardless, her stony face showed no emotion; no fear.
taking out her sword, she calmly stepped forward, her movement almost begging for an attack. however, with a dark reputation like the one Mira had, deception--her strategy--was what she was known for.
"whatever is necessary," she muttered, though this was loud enough for both Sephiroth and the unknown foe to hear. She strode forward. The way she held her blade was unusual--it was almost like she was holding it backwards, though to her, it opened her up for some unusual tricks.
She was hoping to be able to use some of them soon. ~Azula~

[[Do you mean that she is holding it with the blade reversed?]]
The man moved his sword in front of himself and then lunged at the woman. He moved with incredible speed, slipping through the air like naught but a sparrow. He drew his sword back and, as soon as he was in range, executed a straight thrust, hoping that his speed had caught the woman off guard.

[like The Apprentice in Soul Calibur IV? Yeah, sorta like that... She's supposed to be unusual. She's left-handed, but is holding it in her right hand.]
Mira watched until just the right moment. her sword held backwards in her right hand, she stood there split-seconds before the attack of her enemy would take her life. right at this moment she thrust her blade forward into a countering move, and it swiped at such a wide angle that the hilt of her blade was now right in front of her left hand. If she took it with that hand, her style would change completely
Mira's peculiar style was built to be unpredictable, much like the woman herself. She was left-handed, but also was able to wield her sword with her right hand in this unusual technique.
She wondered what style she would focus on this time. ~Azula~

The mysterious man snapped his sword back, preventing the Mira's massive blade from slicing him in two. He leaped into a flip-twist that brought him up and over Mira, to land faceing her back. He carried through with the momentum and performed a back-hand-spring, creating distance between the two.
His left hand flashed and then he threw a fireball straight at Mira.

Mira spun around, swinging her sword in such a way that it made a cutting movement to deflect the fireball (or at least stop it from burning her face off) and the position of her sword was such that if she reached out with her left hand, she wouldbe able to grab it and hold it normally.
she did this, her tactic changing. She decided to see what her opponent's next tactic was, so she could find out a bit about who he or she was.
the more she knew, the better she would play. ~Azula~
