[glow=red,2,300]This is a practice RP. Anyone is allowed to join and sharpen their skills, but be warned, the action will not be incredibly fast paced. Criticism is allowed, but only of a constructive nature. Negativity will not be tolerated here.
The setting is some sort of school in the future where people, mostly young adults between the ages of 14 and 18 but there are those of all ages come to learn how to use their powers (yes, like superpowers kind of). There are teachers, but most of the learning is done through supervised experimentation.[/glow]
::Character:: Name:James Age: 17 Height: 6'1" Weight: 148 lbs. Hair: Black, medium length, usually worn so that it covers his left eye. Eyes: Gold Power: Very powerful telekinesis and telepathy. Distinguishing marks: His body is covered with scars, though most of them are covered. However, they are visible at his wrists, ankles and neck or whenever he reveals his torso (or legs, but that's not gonna happen). There is one, though, on his face running from the corner of his left eye to the right corner of his mouth.

Funnily enough, i was just thinking about making a psionic charachter in an rp earlier today. im reading a book with a psionic person in it. so if you dont mind, i think im going to take that power although it is similar to yours
Name: Rai (pronounced rye) Age: 18 Height: 5'11 Weight: 130lbs Hair: Short brown Eyes: Piercing blue Power: Psionics (Basicaly mind-magic.) Info: Rai is the plotting type. His skill at plotting matches perfectly with his ability to influence others with his psionic ablities. If he wants something done, it usualy is done in one way or another. Although not physicaly intimidating, you do not want to be enemies with Rai. He is excelent and not being notticed, by either blending in or just plain hiding. He is not a mean person, but he is not the kind of person you mess with.

ooohhh... sounds like an excuse to make another character. =3 I keep thinking of "Sky High". that was a decent movie though. anyhoot, I'm in. let's see... it ain't too fun when there's all characters of one gender... and my male "awesome characters" need a little toning, and soooooooooooo.... wing-it tiem. =B Name: Amy [Full name--Amy Mezkiel Savage] [and no, "Savage" doesn't mean anything. I actually have a friend with that last name, and that's where I got it from] Gender: Female Age: 16 Height: 5'4" Weight: 112lbs Hair: Long, loose, curly, brown Face: Amy has a piercing face, and is generally emotionless from first glance. Her green eyes do hold a rather intimidating glare though. Skin/Body: light skin, average female build [maybe slightly thinner than average] Powers: Awareness. [think along the lines of "spider-senses". Also similar to Liberty from "Survival" [Marik knows what I mean] so yeh.] She has swift reflexes, and is aware of all of her surroundings, and also aware of various aspects of the mind, such as emotion. She cannot read minds [she CAN read emotions though] but she can tell when someone is trying to intrude into her mind. Distinct Characteristics: Amy doesn't really have any distinct characteristics on her body that make her stand out, but rather her choice of apparel is what makes her distinct. Regardless of the weather, She's usually in a light sweater, a miniskirt and tennis shoes. [is that gonna have anything to do with the plot? nah, but choice of clothing usually helps create a better mental image of who a character is. so yeh.] Personality: Amy generally likes being by herself, and from first glance seems emotionless. She's generally impatient and doesn't like to put up with stupidity. Other Notes: the easiest way to see Amy unfold is for her to be seen in action. Sooo... start us off someone. =3 ~Sanaki~

[[Alright, if any one else wants to join, feel free to just throw your profile up there and jump right in.]]
James slid his bare left foot forwards on the mat, just a fraction of an inch, to get better traction on the floor. He flexed his fists, held in front of his chest, and drew a deep breath through his nose. Giving a short nod to his sparring partner (it doesn't matter who it is. Whoever wants to be, I suppose), he initiated the attack.
Two quick steps closed the distance and then a cutting kick aimed at the ribs started the fight.

(I assume there are no weapons? or can i use a staff or something of the sort?)
Rai managed to back away from the kick in time. He aimed a kick at James' head, and at the same time, he was using his psionics to see if he could figure out James' next move, although he realized this may not work, since his opponent was well trained in psionics as well.
(also, maby this can be a three person fight so tera can join us, or it can wait untill we have another person and then there can be 2 1v1 matches,)

(ok. I have a suggestion. Since this is technicaly a school and death would not be good, how about training weapons? It should make the fight more interesting IMO)

[[Training weapons are fine with me. @tera: This is kind of a one-on-one fight, but you're more than welcome to make comments/encouragement/taunts from the side. But if someone else does come in, you can engage them, if they're okay with it.]]
(Assuming that the kick was with the right foot) James snapped his left hand up beside his head to block the kick. He did, bit it stung a little bit. He narrowed his eyes as he felt Rai attempt to probe his mind. Grinning slightly, James slammed up a mental barrier that, for Rai, would feel like running into an iron wall head on.
While James chose to fight unarmed for the moment, he did have his eyes on a particular practice set of his weapons on the wall so that he could pull them to himself in the blink of an eye. "Was that probe really the best that you can do?" he asked, purposefully lowering his guard for a moment. He would not launch a mental attack, not yet at any rate, but wait and see what Rai did. As one of the only other warriors of the mind in the school, this battle was more than likely to be taken out of the visible realm and into the minds of the two warriors.

Not as harmed by James' barrier than his opponent thought he would be, Rai replied, "Thats not even close to my strongest probing. Was that the strongest barrier you can put up? I hope not, or else this will be boaring." The talking was realy just an exuse used by Rai to buy time. While talking, he was building up the mental barriers in his mind. When he felt that they where sufficient, he charged in on James with his staff swinging at the side of his head.

James grinned as Rai built something up. A quick flick of his mind told James that his opponent was heaping up layers of mental defenses, so he decided to essentially abandon the mental attack. He was confident that he could break through his opponent's defenses, but he would rather not expend that much energy.
Instead, as soon as Rai's strike started moving, James pulled the two weapons that he had been eying from their mounts on the wall and snapped them up to block the staff. Two sai now occupied James's hands. He twisted one, applying pressure to the blocked staff so that Rai would have to pull pretty hard in order to free it, and spun the other one around so that the "blade" was pointing up and the heavy pommel was diving towards the outside of Rai's left quad. Should that strike hit, it would render the leg completely numb for at least two minutes.

Rai saw the hit comming, but he did not move completly out of the way. He rotated so that when the hilt of the sai hit him, he would still be able to use his leg. Almost as if he wanted it to happen, he was hit in the leg by Jame's sai. Backing up a step, he quickly took the energy from that blow and channeled them through his fist that was aimed at James' jaw.
(This may be a bit complex, but im reading a book that has a psionicist in it so im taking some ideas from there. basicaly if the punch lands, it will cause as much damage as a regular punch along with the damage James' sai just caused.)

[[So kind of like a kinetic shield? 'At's not hard, mon chere.]]
James's eyes widened as Rai allowed the strike to land, but then understood when he felt the energy transfer. He threw himself backwards into a handspring, neatly dodging the modified strike.
"So, you do know what you're doing. That's good," James said, setting back into a very light and mobile stance. Despite facing an older boy, James was confident of a victory. His previous employment had given him quite a few experiences to draw on. It had also given him his scars, though not directly.
James advanced again, his steps weaving back and forth as though he were intoxicated, his sai weaving nonsensical patterns in front of himself. Out of nowhere, he threw his left leg backwards for balance and thrust straight forwards with his right sai for optimum striking distance. Should this attack be blocked, James would swing his leg back down and spin himself to the left, coming back around with the right sai in a slash at the neck. Immediately following came another thrust from the left sai aimed for the stomach.

Rai was able to sense what was comming. Not because of his psionics, his opponents barrier was not easy to break through, but because of his fighting skills. Diving into a sideways roll, he avoided the attacks. Gathering his footing, he launched himself somewhat recklessly at James. He knew it was a stupid thing to do, but he had build up a kinetic shield around his body while rolling, so most (or all) of the damage inflicted by James' next attack would be absorbed.

James did not actually hit Rai, though. Instead of planting himself and somehow redirecting the attack, he spun off to the left while at the same time launching a large pule of telekinetic energy at his opponent. Should that hit, Rai would most likely be knocked over and even if it is blocked, it would push him several feet back.
Immediately after that attack, James reached out with his mind to see if he could pull any of the energy off of the shield in order to diminish its effects, if not destroy it entirely.
